This picturesque Warwickshire village is located at the northern tip of the Cotswolds approximately 4 miles from the traditional market town of Shipston on Stour, 5 miles from Chipping Campden, 10 miles from Broadway and 7 miles south of Stratford upon Avon, close to the borders of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire. The village has been preserved by being classed as both a Conservation Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is full of ‘old world charm’ with a warren of footpaths and two traditional country pubs to explore, one being the award winning Howard Arms.

The houses and cottages are mainly built of warm honey coloured local Cotswold limestone, some thatched, and the 12th Century Norman Church, whose bells still ring out, and acts as home to The Apple Map plus 11 hidden carved mice by Robert Thompson, makes a fine focal point of the village.

If it’s leisure facilities you are looking for, take advantage of those on offer to non-residents at Charingworth Manor, near Chipping Campden. You are very welcome to make use of the heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, fully equipped gym and tennis court. The facilities are available everyday from 7.00 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. at a cost of £10.00 per person. There is no need to pre-book, just check in at the main Hotel Reception.

Ilmington does have it’s own celebrations throughout the year including the Village Show on August Bank Holiday Monday, Open Gardens Days and performances by the Ilmington Morris Men whose tradition of Morris Dancing has been recorded within the village for more than 350 years.

Apart from exploring the numerous public footpaths leaving Ilmington in all directions and giving you fantastic, almost uninterrupted 360 degree views across the countryside, The Lodge will give you a luxurious and flexible base to take advantage of the many wonderful National Trust properties and well-known gardens of Hidcote, Kiftsgate and Sezincote which we are privileged to have on our doorstep.

There are, of course, various local Farmers’ Markets, fantastic delicatessens, bakeries, tearooms, shops, sporting facilities and some of the best award winning pubs and restaurants on offer to you – all only a short drive away!

Our Community Village Shop located on Upper Green and is open 7 days a week. It is within easy walking distance of The Lodge or there’s plenty of parking. The Shop stocks everything from essential items, newspapers, magazines, wine, beer, fresh food from local suppliers including fruit, vegetables, milk, eggs, meats, lovely Deli items and not forgetting freshly baked croissants for your breakfast!

“The Lodge is the perfect slice of heaven to discover the Cotswolds. Sue and Kevin are incredibly helpful and welcoming. We didn’t bring a car and walked everywhere – there are incredible walks in any direction you care to go, all of which are signposted. Sue has thought of everything, from a basket full of delicious local produce and homemade brownies, cosy blankets to snuggle up in, mini marshmallows for a hot choccie, to local maps to guide you on your way during your stay in Ilmington. The Lodge is a winner.”
